Magistrates make me mad part 2

A few months ago I wrote about an encounter I had with a lay magistrate.

As it says in the comments section I did eventually decide to make a complaint.

Today I received a letter from the Bench Chairman informing me that the magistrate in question "... agrees that her conduct was not acceptable..." and states that the JP in question will be refered for further training.

I can honestly say I did not expect such an honest and open response.

    Good; well done.

    The lay magistracy can only continue to be as good as it is if people like you continue to ensure we are up to the mark.

    That is exactly the response I would have expected. It is up to everyone involved in the process to focus on improving, though sometime it takes courage to raise matters in a way that will result in action.

    I wonder whether the LA concerned also had a similar conversation with their manager - I suspect they did speaking from experience.

    When I suggested that you write in about this I entirely expected this type of response. Looks like the local Training and Development Committee has done its job.

    I still wonder about the legal adviser though ???

  Background - CPS served a witness statement on me that exhibited two BWV clips that are potentially relevant to the Crown’s case and may have some relevance to the defence case insofar as they are likely to show the lighting and weather at the time events happened. With the drink driving often come other road traffic offences such as driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.
